Arc Self-Level Compound - 20kg
Create a Level Foundation with Arc Self-Level Compound
Achieve a flawlessly smooth and level surface with Arc Self-Level Compound.
Arc Self-Level Floor Levelling Compound is a game-changer when it comes to subfloor smoothing. This cement-based, protein-free underlayment is designed to deliver consistent results, giving you a perfectly level screed from a feather-edge up to 6mm thick. With the addition of Arc Latex Admixture, it can even reach a thickness of 8mm.
Features transformed into benefits:
- Consistently level screed: Say goodbye to uneven surfaces. Arc Self-Level Compound ensures a smooth and level finish, even on rough and uneven floors.
- Versatile application: This versatile compound is suitable for various floor surfaces, including screeds, concrete, floated concrete, backer boards, and underfloor heating (when mixed with Arc Latex Admixture). It'sthe ideal choice for preparing your surface before installing a new covering.
- Protein-free formulation: With Arc Self-Level Compound, you can rest assured knowing that it is protein-free, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Superior Performance and Ease of Use
Arc Self-Level Compound is formulated with specially blended cements, graded sands, and organic super-plasticizers. When combined with water, these ingredients create an ideal mix for masonry-based floor surfaces such as tamped or worn concrete and sand/cement floor screeds. For non-porous floors, it is recommended to mix the compound with Arc Latex Liquid to enhance adhesion to the substrate and improve abrasion and point-load resistance.
Simple Preparation, Reliable Results
Before application, ensure that the surface is clean, firm, dry, and free from dust, dirt, oil, and grease. Remove any loose or flaking layers and eliminate laitance from concrete surfaces. It's important to ensure that the substrate is strong enough to support the weight of the leveller, adhesive, and final covering. If the sub-floor is directly on the earth, a damp-proof membrane should be in place. Additionally, underfloor heating must be switched off 48 hours prior to application. After applying Arc Self-Level Compound, allow 7 days before gradually increasing the temperature of the underfloor heating.
Detailed Application Instructions
The application process varies depending on the substrate:
Concrete/Screeds: New concrete should be confirmed dry, and sand/cement screeds must have a moisture reading of less than 75% RH before work can commence. Laitance and dust should be mechanically removed from the surface. Sand/cement screeds should be primed with Arc Tilers Primer to maintain flow life and prevent air bubbles. Very porous substrates may require multiple coats.
Anhydrite/Gypsum Screed: Ensure that the anhydrite/gypsum screed is confirmed dry, with a moisture reading of less than 75% RH. Remove laitance and dust mechanically and prime the surface with Arc Tilers Primer. Apply two coats of primer, allowing drying time between coats.
Plywood: Use 18mm (minimum) exterior grade plywood, securely screwed to the substrate. Ensure proper ventilation beneath the substrate and verify that it can support the weight of the leveller, adhesive, and final covering. Clean the surface and prime exposed edges and joints with Arc Tilers Primer. Dilute the primer with water and apply it to the remainder of the substrate.
Non-absorbent surfaces: Follow the instructions provided with Arc Tilers Primer Plus or the recommended primer from another manufacturer.
Achieve a Perfect Mix for Optimal Results
To create the ideal levelling slurry, add Arc Self-Level Compound to water or Latex Liquid in a clean container. Use a high-speed paddle to mechanically stir the mixture until it becomes smooth, consistent, and pourable. The recommended mixing proportions are 4 liters of water to 20 kg of powder. Avoid adding excessive water, as it can extend drying time, lead to surface dusting, and reduce the strength of the hardened screed. Once the compound loses workability, do not attempt to revive it by adding more water.
Ensure Even Application for Outstanding Results
Pour the freshly mixed levelling compound onto the prepared surface and use a straight-edged steel float to spread it evenly across all areas and corners. The compound will flow and smooth out trowel marks for approximately 15 to 20 minutes before it begins to firm up. The recommended application thickness ranges from 3mm to 6mm, but by incorporating Arc Latex Admixture, depths of up to 8mm can be achieved.
In favorable conditions (20°C), the compound will remain flowable for 20 minutes, and light traffic can be allowed after 4 hours. The compound will be fully set after 24 hours. Remember to clean your tools thoroughly with water immediately after use. It's important to let Arc Self-Level Compound dry completely before applying the final decorative surface flooring. The drying time may vary depending on the chosen flooring, so be sure to observe the critical moisture content required.
