About our timber lengths

Our untreated 6 by 2 timber is available in a variety of lengths to accommodate diverse project requirements. Common lengths include 2.4m, 3.0m, 3.6m, 4.2m, 4.8m, and 5.4m, which are approximately equivalent to 8 foot, 10ft, 12ft, 14ft, 16ft, and 18 ft respectively.

The price listed on our website is per metre, making it easy for you to calculate your total cost. Simply multiply your desired length by the listed price per metre to get the cost for each length of timber. Alternatively, you can add your required number of lengths to your online cart to automatically see the total price.

Please note that timber is a natural product, and availability can vary. If we don't have the exact length you've ordered, we'll promptly contact you to offer an alternative size before finalising your purchase, ensuring you have what you need to bring your project to life.

6x2 Timber Sizing

Our 6x2 timber sizes are primarily listed in inches, but metric sizes are also available. Be aware that timber is sold in nominal measurements.

The nominal size of this timber is 150mm x 44mm

This means the dimensions can differ slightly from the nominal sizes by a couple of millimetres due to factors like moisture content and manufacturing processes. It's crucial to understand the minor differences between nominal and finished sizes for accurate planning.

Timber Regularizing

Although our timber is untreated, it is kiln-dried and sawn, offering you ease of handling and a stable working product.

C16 v C24 Timber

Our timber typically comes in C16 grading and C24 may also be available. C16 is a standard quality grade generally used for structural applications, C24 is a higher-quality grade suitable for projects requiring support for higher loads and wider spans. C24 timber is sourced from areas with slower growth rates, resulting in a tighter grain. C16 is the most cost effective and most popular.

Our timber undergoes a stringent quality control operation aimed to exceed customer specifications. It is both FSC® Certified for responsible forest management and CE Certified Timber Grading according to EN 14081-1:2005 + A1:2011, ensuring structural integrity.

Additional Notes

As timber is a natural product, variations in colour, knots, grain, and texture are to be expected. It's essential to familiarise yourself with these natural variations, as well as the differences between nominal and actual sizes, when planning your project.

Delivery

Delivery Nationwide T&C's

Brooks offer free delivery on online sales when you spend €250 or more

We deliver small parcels nationwide. For larger items that require truck delivery, we operate delivery zones. Please enter your Eircode to check if your area is covered.

If you are outside the delivery zones listed on our website, email [email protected] for a delivery quote, please note we deliver within the Republic of Ireland only.

Orders under €250 carry a delivery charge of €50, and smaller items have a €12 charge. These costs will be shown during the checkout process.

Brooks provide a kerb side delivery service. Your order will be placed in the nearest safe location, and some trucks can use a crane where it is safe to do so.

Most orders are dispatched within two to four working days. Specialty items or products ordered in may take a little longer. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Orders placed at the weekend will be processed from the next working day.

We aim to deliver using Brooks vehicles wherever possible, although some deliveries may be made by courier or haulage company.

Returns

Brooks is happy to refund or exchange any full priced item within 28 days of your order date, excluding delivery charges, in line with distance selling regulations.

All items must be returned unopened and in resalable condition.

Product specific returns information

Flooring can be returned within 28 days if the boxes are unopened. A 20 per cent restocking charge applies.
Doors can be returned within 28 days if they are unopened. A 20 per cent restocking charge applies.
Velux products can be returned if the box is unopened. A 25 per cent restocking charge applies.
Non stocked items carry a 15 per cent restocking charge.
Bagged powders cannot be returned as storage conditions cannot be verified.

A full refund or exchange can only be guaranteed if the item is returned within the time frames stated above. Items received after the allowed period will be returned to the original delivery address.

Returning your item

The cost of returning an item is your responsibility unless the product is faulty or an incorrect item was supplied. In these cases, postage costs will be refunded up to the value of the original delivery charge.

Items should be returned using an insured and traceable service, and you should keep note of any tracking numbers. We are not responsible for damage caused during transit, so please ensure items are securely packaged.

Please allow up to ten working days after we receive the goods for your refund to be processed.

The return delivery address can be found on your delivery docket.

Delivery rates vary depending on product type and location within the Republic of Ireland.

Please note that any damages must be reported within 24 hours of receiving your order.
